Best things in life Although some likely disagree, Some, never would conceive: Best things in life - are free. Such things are smiles, hugs and kind words. Then, one may say: "My friend, but what about love?" I'll smile, nod, and then explain. For being both a blessing and a curse, Love is unique, but certainly not free. For sanity is quite the hefty price to pay - For something with no guarantee. One can not tell one's bidding to the heart, One moment strong and sure of one's self, The other - doubting one's own worth. Love's cruel twists and turns, Emotions in a knot, All that for what? A hope that he or she may feel the same? 'Tis madness, that is what I say! And many will agree, And fall in love, And things will always be the same, Best - being free. --- 02.10.99 self-reflection copyright (c) 2000 by sergey vershinin
